Epigenomics

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

Our research focus is epigenetics, which regulates gene expression in cells. Epigenetic dysregulation is involved in many kinds of diseases such as cancers, metabolic diseases, and neuronal disorders. We investigate how epigenetic abnormalities cause cancers and find novel therapeutic strategies targeting these alterations.

Outline

Our research projects focus on the molecular networks of neuron-glia and glia-endothelial cell in the brain. The analyses of the glial function may contribute to understanding " the mind " and developing new therapeutic approaches to neuronal diseases.

Molecular and Cellular Biology Molecular and Cellular Biology

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

We are exploring transcriptional regulation of the relevant genes involving certain pathological conditions such as cancer/leukemia, autoimmune diseases and psychiatric diseases including schizophrenia. Our studies also include bioinformatic approaches for the protein-protein interactions (PPI) using computational chemistry in order to elucidate small compounds that can block relevant PPIs.

Molecular Toxicology Molecular Toxicology

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

This laboratory has been primarily engaged in toxicological studies on risk assessment of carcinogenicity of environmental chemicals. This is pursued with the use of diverse methodological approaches including molecular biological tools and animal models.

Outline

The focus of the research in our laboratory is to understand mechanisms and the meaning of neurogenesis in the adult brain. Our recent data suggest the possibility that adult neural tissue can regenerate after brain injury.

Gastroenterology and Metabolism Gastroenterology and Metabolism

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

The lineup of the Division of Gastroenterology and Metabolism includes Professor Takashi Joh since 2006 and about 40 physicians certified in gastroenterology, hepatology and metabolism with a broad range of special interests. The medical staffs in gastroenterology are especially proficient in endoscopic procedures.

Respiratory Medicine, Allergy and Clinical Immunology Respiratory Medicine, Allergy and Clinical Immunology

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

Our department consists of two groups, Respiratory Medicine/Allergy, and Rheumatology. We stand on the practical medical care that we learn from patient in bed side. To offer the treatment that is most suitable for the patient, we are trying to work on the translational research from bench to bed side.

Cardio-Renal Medicine and Hypertension Cardio-Renal Medicine and Hypertension

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

Our department researches pathophysiology and treatment strategies of both heart and kidney diseases. We now focus on precise characterization of diastolic dysfunction of left ventricle and remission of chronic renal failure. The other targets of our research are renal mechanisms of hypertension and cardio-renal connection.

Neurology Neurology

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

The mission of the Department of Neurology at Nagoya City University is to pioneer the future of clinical neurology and basic neuroscience, as well as to provide the intensive educational activities for the students and the researchers. Our main interests in the fields of neurology and basic sciences are cognitive behavioral neurology, Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease and stroke.

Neurology Hematology and Oncology

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

Our staff members are trying to provide patients suffering from benign hematologic disorders, hematologic malignancies and various solid tumors with the best evidence-based and personalized treatment. We are also engaged in the education for students and young physicians with strong passion. Our current research focuses on the translational research of lymphoid malignancies between bedside and bench and on the clinical trials for various types of cancers using molecular targeting and immune therapies.

Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

We provide education and training in anesthesia and critical care. We investigate new ideas via clinical and basic research. In the hospital, our professional services include anesthesia in the operation room, pain management in the pain clinic, and critical care in the intensive care unit and emergency room.

Staffs

Radiology Radiology

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

This department takes responsibility for radiological diagnosis and treatment at the university hospital. Clinical researches are ongoing with respect to high-precision radiotherapy, dual-source computed tomography, time-resolved magnetic resonance imaging, and vascular interventional radiology. Current laboratory studies are focused on radiation fractionation issues, effects of low-dose radiation and radioprotectors.

Host and Virus Interaction Host and Virus Interaction

Outline

This department is engaged in the research on molecular mechanisms of hepatitis viruses life cycles including the following targets: (1) Establishment of new virus culture systems, (2) Analysis on pathogenesis and infection/replication mechanisms, (3) Screening of novel anti-virus compounds and (4) Search of host factors related to hepatitis viruses.

Host and Virus Interaction Clinical Pharmaceutics

Web Site To the Laboratory Site

Outline

The department of Clinical Pharmaceutics is dedicated to providing clinical pharmacotherapy. Our department is engaged in researches of the voiding function, chronic kidney disease, male sexual function and inherited metabolic disease. We have got a lot of research results and disseminate achievements to the world.

Host and Virus Interaction Department of Advancing Acute Medicine

Outline

The aim of our department is developing of acute medicine in the Japanese Society. Our study includes every issue of emergency medicine, critical care medicine, toxicology, trauma and burn. We encourage to find a subject of clinical or basic studies in the clinical field, and support to accomplish the research to collaborate with other department in this Nagoya City University.
